It's not the destination; it's the journey.

#ipreferyoucallmedoctor started in March 2012.  The blog was developed after inspiration from many .gif reaction sites.  It was created because there were many blogs for specific universities, cities, and even law students.  Like many other aspects of life, there was nothing specifically geared for pharmacy students.  I sought to fill that void. In doing so, I found a community of fellow pharmacy students who not only needed an outlet during study breaks, but also had the same feelings during hard times and were able to uplift each other.

One year later, I graduated with my PharmD.  In the months after graduation, students continued to submit posts for the popular blog that still picked me up during my terrible retail days.  Now, a few career changes later (still in pharmacy), I seek to continue to provide the jovial attitude and support pharmacy students can give on another.

While we getting my doctorate was one of the best days of my life, what I loved most about this achievement was the road it took to get here.  Pharmacy is a small yet strong community.  I would not have been able to do it without the unwavering support of my friends, and I would not have learned the empathy and compassion of patient care without first caring for my friends.  You truly need to be your own patient.

If there is anything they could tell you about me, I like three things: nerdy pharmacy references, fashion, and a great deal.  Those three in combination were non-existent as a student.  There were no pharmacy references that helped the profession move forward.  Fashion was trending in the direction that would be deemed unprofessional, and anything that I liked was way too far out of my limited student budget.

One thing I did wish I worried about during school was the cost of my education that I would continue to pay throughout my career.  I firmly believe in giving back to the community that has given so much to me. A portion of all sales will go towards scholarships for pharmacy students.  They may be in a form of a commission-earned scholarship from referral codes, or through an application review.  Here at IPYCMD, I want every purchase to put a smile on your face and on the face of a future pharmacist.
